Fun

July 21-August 9 (2025)
1

We navigate the jammed-up oil-stained band of interstate from city to city to share the songs. Through an endless gauntlet of franchises, distracted drivers, legal solicitations, and religious admonitions, we ride on, laughter filling the van—we make the best of it. We're in this for the fun.

I've done the opposite for too long; I'm never going back. Now, if I weren't with people I enjoy being with, I wouldn't bother. I leave domestic bliss—my home, wife, and dogs—for weeks at a time because I believe in the music, that the music matters. I don't sleep well in motel rooms, truck stops depress me, and airports fill me with anxiety, but music is the redeemer. We get on stage every night, and everything is okay; it's worth it.

The music is intense, aggressive, and in your face, but ultimately it is cathartic and celebratory. The songs are open-hearted and open-minded, and I put everything into them—they stand up and are as relevant as when I wrote them. I feel, live, and experience every song in the set—each word comes to my lips, and I sing them out as if for the first time every time. Even though the music is serious, it's called "playing music". And that is a joy and a privilege.

I don't and won't get into any isolation trip out there. I step off the stage into the audience every night to make a human connection. Otherwise, what's the point? I'm in this for the handshakes, the hugs, the smiles, and the conversation. I've never viewed my skating or music as a monologue for mere consumption—it's always been a dialogue from the heart to the heart.

Big love and respect to The Aquabats and The Koffin Kats for helping to make this the most fun and positive tour and summer of live music yet. Thank you to everyone who attended the shows, supported us, shared kind words, or purchased merchandise; it truly means a lot to us. We love you all!
